About Us

Goloka Eco Sanctuary began when a business professor from Iran, an A.I. designer from India and a wellness entrepreneur from the USA decided to acquire a property together to pursue their mutual passion for stewarding land and caring for animals.

Maybee, Mi was where they acquired the property, and ‘maybe’ was the most optimistic appraisal of how it would all turn out! But as fortune often favors the sincere, there is now a community of volunteers making the dream of Goloka Eco Sanctuary a reality.

We chose this property especially because there were 3 cows already living there who we would save right away the purchase. Worried that all the other details of stewarding land might distract us from this important goal, we decided to force our hand and have animals to care for right away. Those cows quickly attracted a few friends, and they’ve all now happily made themselves the focal point of the whole project.

Goloka Eco is also part of a broader yoga cooperative in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area called the Harmony Collective, which includes Gora’s Grill (a plant based restaurant) and Kindred Journey School – a homeschool cooperative for families in the area.

As the philosophy of yoga is deeply tied to values of connection, stewardship and harmony with nature, Gokoka Eco provides a living example of that potential for young and old alike to come witness and contribute to.
